like a pre 1900 tobbaco pipe (still contained half a bowl)
my motorcycle and operating old steam engines!
That's a cool hobby. Many years ago I had a mini (toy) steam plants that used the fuel pellets. It was fun, not a cool as a real steam engine though.operating old steam engines!
The little engine to the right is a small steam powered water pump, which feeds the large boiler on the left - this provides the steam to power the coal / clay mine winding engine pictured below. That looks like some steam-punk creation right there!
I must say that a pipe looks to be a necessity when operating a steam train.
The Henry Ford Museum near Detroit has some steam engines. It's been many years since I've visited. Here's a link you might find interesting.
The wife & I love RVing and have been pretty active with this for the past 5 - 6 years -- it's a great way to see the country and escape from the summer heat here in the Houston area. This is a pic of our current rig. Our plan this year was to head out from early June to late October, but the virus has changed our plan to "Wait & see." Already had reservations in NM, CO, MY & MT, but shortly will have to start doing some cancellations.
Talk about something ideal to roast your nuts, That's it if you had a problem with it...Ha ha! That would be my ideal dream machine - a steam powered motorcycle
Sounds like we have a lot in common - I'm into medieval living history / reenactment and like getting out into the country. I got into clay pipes through seeing 17th / 18th century reenactors smoking them!I actually have quite a few. I have dabbled in blacksmithing, wood working (joinery specifically), and making medieval armour. I hunt, fish, and enjoy being outdoors, but I don't consider them hobbies, part of my life. I brew beer, and study and recreate the history of the first third of the sixteenth century Germany, specifically the Holy Roman Empire. I have learned the skills needed to employ a sword against another man, but sadly my body no longer lets me pursue this passion. I am currently attempting to build a matchlock arquebus. I shoot firearms competitively, SASS, USPSA and three gun. Oh yeah, my family likes Mopars. I think that's all.
Well, apparently disc brakes are all the rage now and hydraulic actuation is the best (they also make a cable disc). I found A LOT has changed in bicycles since the 20 year gap when I purchased my mountain bike. My brother just spend $4,000 in a Specialized road bike with an electronic rear derailleur!Hydraulic brakes on a bicycle? Wow, that's a new one on me Al!

Jay.?
