I appreciate it deathmetal... but I can always pick some up online but it would be nice to have a store nearby that sold it. I buy my Prince Albert at Wal-Mart and I've noticed that HEB sells Carter Hall in the big tubs but they charge way too much for them, I can't find it anywhere in the pouches around here which is why it has taken me so long to finally give it a whirl. Has anyone tried Carter Hall Match or Chathom Manor by P&C? Not much cheaper but it's worth a shot.

MSO's original post confused me a bit; I got the impression he was using "mild" in two different ways. (Of course, it may be that the caffeine has not kicked in, so I can't read yet, either.)

When I speak of pipe tobacco, I use "strong" for high nicotine levels, and "full-flavored" or simply "full" for the flavor component. Five Brothers is strong; Star of the East is full; Nightcap is both.

I was never a cig smoker,so I am not after a nic hit. I avoid strong blends - at least, I don't seek them out deliberately. I've never smoked Five Brothers and see absolutely no reason that I should try it. I enjoy latakia, and some of the full-flavored lat blends, but I'm not seeking those out the way I used to; I'm enjoying other flavors.

The three new (to me) blends I have enjoyed the most in the past 6 months are Dunhill MM Baby's Bottom, SG Bothy Flake, and Amphora Regular. Go back a few months further, and add in Lane's Ready Rubbed.

I think this is sensible terminology.

I'm just the opposite, I tend to steer clear of strong blends. I only smoke 2-3 times a week. Last time I smoked Billy Budd I barely got through the bowl. I wish I had a higher tolerance to nicotine because BB was awesome.

I concur!

Back away from mild tobaccos? Why heck no!! It goes great on my cereals, or adding it to my coffee. I love a few flakes of some mild golden Virginia on toast with butter. Or, just eat it straight... chased with a cup of coffee.

These blends that are even too mild for 12 year old girls have their place. If it's too mild to smoke, then eat it, mmmm mmmmm.
Orlick Golden Slices got you down? You've been puffing and puffing all day with the girls, playing with Barbies, but you still don't feel the nicotine beast within you subsiding? Then chew up a few slices and chase them down with your beverage of choice.
Eaten by All Shrewd Judges... Orlick!

I have to admit, when I go trawling for new blends, I use the selector (on P&C/SPC) to hold back anything that does not at least hit Medium to Strong levels. But sometimes I enjoy a mellow blend, like Prince Albert for long drives.

This reminds me of an old Chinese saying about the hot spiciness of food. They said, the people of Szechuan are not afraid of hot spicy food, but the people in Hunan are afraid of food that is not hot spicy.

With a little coaxing mild can be wild baby. Brown VA's are the naughty librarians of the smoking world. You need to be clear eyed and on your game to unravel their complex and beguiling delights.
