Do some blends sneak up (or maybe I should say down) in rotation and seem to disappear faster? I've noticed this with a number of blends over the years. Royal Yacht was supposed to be polarizing and maybe just an occasional smoke, except once I got into a tin, I never got to jar it. As the song says, one day I turned around and it was gone. This has happened more than once, with Black Frigate, Mixture No. 79, and now apparently with SPC Potlatch. Others. Do you have blends that no one boomed up much that have just clicked with you?

So do you specifically have a tobacco rotation that you don't veer from? Like not matter what your in the mood for, you have to smoke so and so blend?
Just curious, never heard that before if so!

It happens to me pretty regularly, something I thought was boring or average I suddenly find myself plowing through a tin like I was born to it. It happened most recently with Pegasus. I started out thinking it was boring as shit and then before I knew it the tin was gone and I'd found a taste for it. But the flip side happens too. Blends I've decided I love so much I need to cellar them deeply can go dull on me and I start to lose all sense of what I loved about them.

Who knows why? I chalk it up to the mercurial nature of pipe smoking. It certainly makes me cautious about overbuying my current "loves"

I wouldn’t say I had a rotation, I smoke whatever I am in the mood for, but I seem to be in the mood for SG SJF and FVF most often.
However HU Director’s Cut broke up my normal pattern and I have been smoking more of this than any other blend the last few months.

didi', about tobacco rotation, I think I have about twenty or so blends "open," mostly in jars I open and close rather than leave sealed for aging. So it behooves me to intend to get to them all regularly, if not in any particular order. I don't have a checklist, or have them lined in up in rank. That's just the price of loving the lavish variety of blends available. Being somewhat a creature of habit, I could go with a blend or three, but this is where I am right now. So unintentionally, I find that I definitely steer back to specific blends that call to my taste buds, which is kind of fun. I don't think about it; it just happens.

No, all blends stay in a strict rotation. The last time I went outside the rotation the Syrian civil war broke out. Before that the last time I broke rotation 9/11 happened. I keep rotation to keep world peace. I'm not sure why my rotation is the key to world peace ✌but it's a lot of pressure and it's exhausting. Sometimes you just want a nice English crumble cake when it's time for an aromatic but knowing that bowl of 1Q will save tens of thousands of lives makes it worth it. If only I could be sure it would be the Portuguese that would go to war, then I would do it. They are so cocky, sitting on the sun drenched coast like Europe's proud nipple, with their tans, colorful houses and working half days, man how I envy... I mean hate them.
