Do Pipe Snobs Really Exist?

Nine out of ten people do not smoke English blends yet one out of nine English blend smokers try to tell everybody else what real tobacco is . My other observation is that most of the time when someone is telling everyone how much better thier hand made 200 year old aged briar pipe carved with a piece of broken glass from the Sistine Chapel is ,it never seems to have any cake build up in the picture . All Iam sayin is if you cant smoke Cater Hall in your Dunhill once in a while it might be best if we dont hang out togather . One more thing cobs smoke just as well as many other more costly pipes but in my own opinion the stems suck . YMMV

There are enough REAL quality pipes at reasonable cost that only a hillbilly would smoke one of these cheapass drugstore pipes.

Happens to be the truth

Anybody that has been on this forum a while knows I don't like Grabows. I don't own one, and I would never recommend anyone buy one. I smoked drugstore pipes when I started, and have moved on.
Likewise, I would never insult anyone who did smoke a Grabow. Photoman13 didn't go far enough when he categorized your first post as "intense"; it was rude. If you can't voice your opinions without being rude, you'll get banned from here really fast; and I, for one, will be happy to see you go.

I've heard of ladies who would 'snob' a pipe smoker as opposed to a cigarette- or non- smoker,

and it is not uncommon for briar smokers to shun corncobs. Happened to me, my dear tobacconist is one of them!

Nevertheless I smoke both (briars and cobs), so I mean no offense to anyone anyways!

I'm fairly new around here.. I own about a dz pipes now. cobs to nice Pete's and Sav's and even a Tinsky. About $225 is the most I have spent on a pipe. I made the mistake once asking opinions on a Dunhill I had run across somewhere and got pounded with the there are better pipes for less money crowd, etc. The same with Areo's seem to bring out the it's nasty stuff I only smoke English crowd. Being retired I like what I like.. In a week I smoke way more CH in cobs than the others but I also like bringing a nice pipe and tobacco to enjoy. Since I generally smoke alone on my patio I'm not trying to impress a sole.

Snobs you bet they exist! Most of the time snobs that I see can't smile so if you see someone with out a smile give them one of yours. ::
