Need? No. Nobody “needs” any kind of a pipe.

yeah we all hate having to stop resurection men. I assume that is why we all smoke our cw pipes.

I have a big collection of pipes, and I only have one churchwarden. I don't smoke it very often, but I really like it when I do. It's a different experience than any other pipe in my drawer. It's a wonderful pipe for when you're able to fully relax, rest your arm on your knee or armrest, and barely move your wrist to bring your pipe to your mouth. It's the perfect sitting pipe.

I rarely smoke mine but when I do I love it. I say you don’t need one but you obviously want one so treat yo self.
They’re my go to when I have the time to really get in to a book. If you read a lot, I’d recommend getting one.

I agree with Mike. At least when compared to almost any other style of pipe. Not impossible not even that hard or super uncomfortable, but compared to others especially if you're walking and might trip or bump into something. Also I bet that's a Peterson D12
Funny I remember hearing it was a Broomhilda and think Savinelli certainly takes inspiration from Peterson which you know is what craftsmen and artists do.
I personally find the button helpful for clenching, not sure if you're saying it gets in the way or helps.
Even people who hate pipes, hate tobacco, and hate fun still can't help but love a churchwarden.
