Do Briars made by Different Companies Smoke Differently?

I understand people buy pipes based on looks or brand or rarity etc. But do Briar pipes made by different companies actually smoke differently?

I have a Castello and a 60's Dunhill and for me they smoke the same as my Savinellis and Rossis. I understand a cheaply made pipe might not be drilled properly but other than that is there really much difference?

I am only talking about Briar pipes I have noticed a slight difference when smoking a Cob or a Meerschaum.

Yes they do. But every pipe can smoke different than another pipe made of the same material.

It all depends on your standards.

Savinelli is a pretty easy standard of drilling to reach, but a lot of companies still don't reach that standard, but then a lot of people don't care either way, and if you do care, then it's possible you also care about standards higher than what Savinelli offers, in which case you're probably going to upgrade to a $10 Missouri Meerschaum Cob.

Isn’t this the truth. The wide open, easy draw of a Cob almost ensures a hassle-free bowl. In no time at all, the manner in which you load a Cob provides your perfect draw and a cool, steady burn. I swear by MM Cobs.

Most of my pipes smoke equally well for me. Whatever variations there are, are pretty subtle. Pipes made by the same maker can vary a little from pipe to pipe. I would be hard pressed to quantify a "house style" for smoking properties from one maker to another.
Certainly, my Artisan pipes smoke differently than my Britwood, but that's to be expected, as the internals are different. Perhaps more importantly, the stems and buttons, as well as the fabricating of the airway passage from a circular tube to a lozenge at the button, can affect the smoke, and the execution of these can vary from pipe to pipe.

I guess it all depends on what you use to set them on fire. Old dense briar will smoke slower than the fresh stuff that will take a flame quite readily if using an accelerant.

There's an Ebay seller named Benandci who imports pipes from Chinese makers. Generally speaking they seem to be decent pipes that you can snag for dirt-cheap if you want to. Today I spotted one though that is reminiscent of some specific imagery... some very phallic imagery. Do think this pipe's...
