DIY Aromatic Flavoring Experiments?

I have some old aromatics that have lost their flavor... the tobacco itself also seems to be fairly low quality, so I don’t enjoy smoking it.

In searching this forum on what to do with tobacco like this, I found a comment by someone who said "Try DIY aromatic flavoring experiments."

He didn't explain HOW though.

I think it would be fun to experiment with this.

Any suggestions or ideas on what to do or how to get started?

Also, if there any aromatics or blenders that you especially like, try searching the web for details on the ingredients of their toppings
So maybe search for "wilke peanut butter ingredients" or something.

But basically, try adding something that smells good to some tobacco and see if it works.

Oh, and also try searching for "tonquin bean"

I accidentally dropped a wad of Eight State Burley into a glass of Wild Turkey 101. I let it dry out and stuck it in a small mason jar. I'll probably give it a try sometime soon.

That's one way to apply toppings! Let us know how it is after it dries out!

Back when I rolled cigarettes I used to throw some dry lemon peels in the pouch to keep it moist and it gives the smoke this added citrusy note.

That and sailors were said to dip their navy plugs in rum or whatever alcohol was available before shaving off flakes to smoke.

Both are very easy ways to dip your toe into applying a light topping at home.

If you want to explore further, there's a nice detailed thread on another forum by WCC (?) blender Ernie Q. It's a very educational read.

Probably the most straightforward way to mix up aromatics (or other tobaccos) you don't like is to mix them in 1/3 or 1/2 into a rather damp saucy aromatic that you do like. Mix them up thoroughly and put them in a jar and let the tobacco meld together for a few weeks. Ive done this many times with tobaccos I didnt really like. It does help if you pick flavour profiles that go decently together.
