Lol the 40$ is only till january by the way, then it bumps up to 120... so if you were to want to upgrade at any point to windows 8, u can buy it now and get your key, and just wait to install whenever you feel like it... save some cash for baccy that way

I had to use mac when I was in school for photography. I didn't feel as though I had full control of the program (photoshop). I know a lot of people who have macs and love them. You can get a fully loaded windows based computer for the price of an entry level mac though. Macs are resistant to viruses but I think that is because there are just more viruses out there that target Microsoft Windows and it's programs because their are more users. I'm know there are a lot of benefits that mac lovers swear by but for over all value I feel like it is a rip off. All my opinion I might add.

This OS is fantastic and I am still skimming the surface of all the new features...
10/10 so far for me... social media integration is amazing...
all photos, music and videos at my fingertips...
and IE 10 is blazing

That is sweet too! Although I have never seen the use of a tablet with those kind of prices. My computer cost about the same.

It will work amazing adam...
MicroSoft just has (or will very soon) debut a new tablet that runs a special configured version of Windows 8
That's the awesome part... its not a special configured version... its the same!!! well through the consumers eyes, windows 8 RT and windows 8 are identical... only difference is RT gives compatibility with ARM processors to work on cell phone procs

From what it sounds like, these new tablets might rival or excel past your current setup as far as performance...

all in a polycarbonate body that's extremely light and easy to move around

Sorry when I hear tablet I think of ipads that are basically computers but they take away key features that I find to be necessary on a normal computer. If it is good as you guys are saying I retract me previous statement. I'm just one of those people that have never seen the value in ipads.

Everyone is pumped about a $40 upgrade? Mac has been doing cheaper all along. Current upgrade is $20 i believe. There are definitely pros and cons and it is very hard to get used to a mac. Once you figure out the shortcuts and how the system works, its hands down a better computer IMO. Now, if i wanted a gaming computer i would be back on windows. But for an all around versatile computer, mac is the way for me. I agree with photo that the entry price can be a bit high for a mac, but they last forever. Most macbook users are on there original mac books. They ae easily upgrade-able by the user, and my current macbook has outlasted my previous dell (which i paid much more for than my mac). Hopefully the companies have fixed the battery life also. My mac runs for about 7 hours on one charge, my dell....about 1hr 45 min.
All that being said, i still do run microsoft office on my mac (it was free)

There is your problem Dell sucks. They use super cheap components. My parent's never listen to me and bought a dell. They have constant problems with it. My HP is much better and faster than (when I bought it) the mid level macs for less than half the price. I won't pay crazy money for a computer that will be obsolete in 3 years.

Thats the thing, they mac makes so user friendly and easily update-able that they dont really go obsolete. Again this is all my opinion as someone who was die hard PC and refused to even buy an iPod because i thought they were evil. After some experience with apple products i wont be going back. this is a tough one to argue because most everyone who cares is die hard one way or another. too each there own.
