Okay thank you Ed. I know Mr. Clean has the new Magic Erasers out and wasn't sure if that was what you were talking about. Are the ones you use called SandFlex and if so are you using the yellow.
I have no idea who makes the ones I use. They must come in rather large sizes as the knife shop cuts them into 1"X3" pieces for my friend. Just about any you see will work, but depending on the grit you get more sanding may be required to get a nice finish. You might want to pick up 2-3 different grits.

I find them great for removing light oxidation and also removing lacquer that is chipping or flaking. On a lot of pipes I can go over it with the "eraser" and go straight to the buffer.

They won't get up close to the button when removing oxidation from a stem so some sanding will be needed there.
