@Mike N I’m not against anything you are saying, but it does seem like you’re not happy, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

So, why didn’t you just send it back and be done with it? I don’t get why you didn’t just do that instead of keeping it.

Every pipe company/carver I am aware of has a satisfaction guarantee, if you don’t like what you see, send it back for refund.

So I’m on your side, but send the pipes back you don’t like next time, simple. ;)

I guess I'm an outlier or an out and out liar depending on how you look at it, but i personally never cared about packaging or boxes or socks, hell Altinay delver in a heavy leather pouch where as other carvers have form fitted cases, does the bag protect as well as the case, I'm thinking they don't, do i care...nooooope. I have Dunhill pipes that the stamping is almost worn smooth and illegible but they smoke just as good as the ones with the sharp deep stamps, so that doesn't really matter to me either, I'm not out to impress anyone with my pipes i just buy them to enjoy smoking them.

All of this aside, the OP bought and paid for it and it's his and he's allowed all of his opinions based on the pipe he owns, it's too bad when things don't work out exactly how we want and things irk us but that's this crazy wonderful thing we call life. Smoking hot can actually be caused by several different things, so hopefully that is one that works itself out wether through loading differently or a slower cadence or whatever, the packaging and stamping area what they are and as Workbench is a collaboration I took can see why they wouldn't be packaged the same as his artisan pipes.... i mean the collaboration should have given a clue right off the bat, not good enough for his own name and the price and term "work bench" makes me think lower quality right away, but that's just me.

Hope it all works out.

Non-fanboy out!

Yep. Why? You another fanboy of a pipe you didn’t pay for?
Any reason for being disrespectful to @Sobrbiker? He simply asked a question. Sorry about the pipe but you could have sent it back. Use this as a learning tool for future purchases. As you can see, the majority of folks could care less about packaging. And no, before you ask, I'm not a "fanboy".

Disrespectful? He could have simply read the thread and seen that I have posted since I started the thread, rather than call me out while adding zero to the discussion.

I mean, I'm sorry the thread isn't going the way you wanted, but they in no way "called you out".

Don't take your frustrations out on other people just because the majority isn't agreeing with you, including ad hominem attacks accusing anyone who disagrees as being a "fanboy". You're not one to claim someone isn't adding to the discussion.

Now that's a "call-out", and I freely admit it.

I still want to know about the 800 buck Morgan pipe.
Let's just say it takes a lot of testicular fortitude to make a pipe that looks like this. You'll see ...

gotta love when people confuse the right to share their opinion with the right to not have people contradict those opinions. It's kind of the two way street of discussions.
Though the bottom line with a pipe or most other purchases they're worth it to you or not. And if the person selling something can't find the people who like their product at their price, they'll have to get a new job.

All of Chris Morgan's pipes have his brand on them except this line (i.e. Arbutus, Bones, BlackJack, One, Briar Cigar, and his Handmades). Different lines have a different stamp. These lines of pipes have stamps because they're all Chris' design. The reason he didn't stamp this pipe is because it's a collaboration with Sean Reum. As you noted, but stamp or not that will not affect the quality of the pipe and the smoke. Whether the pipe comes in a sock and/or in a box etc., none of that affects the quality of the pipe and the smoke. All pipes, whether high end or low end will require a break in period as I'm sure you are aware. As for the stem, that's all preference. Some pipe smokers prefer thin stems while others like thick stems. Some like p-lips and others like fish-tails. Just because a pipe came with a different stem than you're used to doesn't mean it's not a quality pipe, it just doesn't meet your specific standard. Which is fine.

I used to skype with Chris a lot several years back, and he's a super nice guy. If you contact him he might be able to help you out with a stem that will meet your specific requirements. If not, there are plenty of pipe repair shops that could make you a stem that meets your needs.

As for me, boxes and pipe socks are only good for shipping the pipe in. Once I have the pipe, I never use the box or sock again. Plus, if there is no fancy box or sock then it should help lower the cost of the pipe. I don't need to pay for fancy packaging when all I want is a nice pipe.
