Thanks for elaborating. Most of my pipes have vulcanite stems and a lot have silver bands.
Will smearing Vaseline on the silver before the ozone treatment protect the bands from tarnishing ?

Have you ever tried a Ultrasonic Cleaner with a small amount of Joy in the water for the stems if they look salvageable?

Yes, irregardless of how clean they may look, they get an alcohol treatment.

it’s when the vendor DOES NOT disclose that they haven’t bothered to even run a pipe cleaner through that upsets me - especially if the item was expensive.

Can't argue with that at all. Me, I usually buy only from people with stellar (99.9% or higher) &/or that I know from experience will only provide quality cleaning. Occasionally, though, I'll take a chance if it's a pipe I really want. Once or twice I've had not as good luck on those, but most times it's been done right. Still, though, I'd be bent too if I laid out Big Bucks & got one that hadn't been at least partially cleaned.
