Alright guys and gals. I'm sure I'm not the only one. With combo of tins and bulks I think it would be safe to say I have 50+ types or blends. Lately I have been grabbing for the Irish flake and bold kentucky. I am even turned off by my 15 tins of CD red Carolina flake. Anyone else doing this? I'm sure there may be a lot. On a side note I bought zilch for big black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. I finally am tired of buying to let a lot sit....I figure if all online goes away and a ban and most blends are gone I still can go to my CIGARETTE shop and buy prince Albert and mixture 79, Carter Hall. I would still be happy with that. Oh y2k is coming stock pile food. Did that and it got me no where.

Well....Here is another one to try...Email just sent from SP...Sutliffs Cringle Flake (limited edition release for the 2019 holiday season and consists solely of red Virginia tobaccos, pressed into flakes. It delivers flavors of bread and tangy fruit, with an underlying sweetness that make for a pleasant all-day smoke).

I have a very minuscule cellar. I am very sure I could "survive" on whatever was left after a tobacco apocalypse. Thing is I want at least something to break up the monotony. (Even if I don't particularly care for it at this moment.)

Oh y2k is coming stock pile food. Did that and it got me no where.

On a side note, so did I, but figured I wouldn't be going for gourmet, but survival. Couple of the 50 pound bags of the dried dog food you add water to. Yes, I am sure it would have tasted like ?, but when you are starving.....

Wow sounds awesome. And Sutliff. Limited edition. Very cool. Thanks for the input.

Hopefully Sutliff did not just tin their bulk red and slap a Xmas logo on it...what is the bulk name.... Zb 515 etc...whatever.. I heard that bulk version is pretty good none the less.

I do the same. My tastes change from time to time. However, I've never regretted having something in my cellar. If you find that your tastes change down the road, you can always trade whatever you've got for something that you like.

I also find that sometimes my tastes come back around. When I first started smoking a pipe, I was a cigarette smoker, and Virginias appealed to me initially because it was similar to what I already knew. I bought several tins of popular Virginia flakes including a few tins of Christmas Cheer. However, I quickly started to gravitate towards latakia blends and burley blends, with the occasional aromatic. I eventually came back around to Virginia flakes last year, and I sure am glad to have those tins of Christmas Cheer.

Oh y2k is coming stock pile food. Did that and it got me no where.

The difference is that we have seen actual legislation already restricting the production and distribution and sale of tobacco. It's all aimed at the vape industry, but the pipe industry is suffering collateral damage. Stocking up on 'baccy is a logical move at this point. It's cheap compared to every other form of tobacco, and relatively inexpensive for a hobby / recreational pursuit in general, and there's good reason for concern that tobacco will become less available and/or that some of the smaller blenders might exit the market. For a few thousand bucks, you could build a rather substantial cellar and have plenty of tobacco to smoke and trade for years.

I enjoy variety. I have LOTS of open tins. I made the mistake in the past of letting some sit without being smoked for quite some time and they got too dry. Now, if I have something I've opened but am not reaching for at least occasionally, I do one of two things. Pack it up and send it someone or dump the remainder into a 7 mm Mylar Bag, heat seal and put it in the cellar. Who knows, in 2, 5 or 10 years, I may run across it and try it again. At least it won't go to waste.

To respond to the OP, I do not find myself only reaching for a couple of blends. Quite to the contrary. I primarily smoke Virginia and Virginia Flakes. I would say I have 8 tins open and at least that many more in mason jars to keep them fresh and readily available when I want to smoke one. It is not unusual for me to smoke totally different blends from one day to the next. I average 4 to 6 bowls per day. Doesn't mean my way is right, it is simply right for my enjoyment.

i'm very new to pipe smoking. about a yr and a half. so far, i really haven't smoked anything i really don't like. well, haven't smoked aromatics in about 6 months. but that's due to finding new blends than not liking them. there are still large amount of new blends to try and that's a part of fun for me.

I know at this point I can not tell you the tins I have open and drying. My problem is I only find out 4 times a year if that. I only know when I do cellar arranging. And at that point they are crispy. Rubbed out it is NOT dust but I'm sure I am missing out on flavor components. Can you send me links to mylar for best price and I also need the sealer right?? I think I need an overhaul and just need to do the 80/20 ratio for storage. 80 needs to go to storage and the rest for immediate smoking. Thanks if anyone can send this mylar link that would be appreciated.

I like pretty much everything in the cellar. I was just commenting if anyone goes through a strange period of only reaching for a few consecutively for days on end, knowing everything they have they are fine with. I guess it's just my taste buds at the time being. And I am also a sucker for the vitamin N.

Don't forget to send photos for all of us, once you have it. That's great!
Will do, it's a surprise to me too. The only thing I requested was a an antler accent. May do an unboxing video.

So I never had the chance to try Christmas cheer. I love holiday spirit. Does it blow away holiday spirit?
Wonderful sweet and tangy red Virginia goodness. Never had Holiday Spirit.
