Yep. His mom was an artist and after he retired he said he wanted to see if any of that got handed down. After owning several of his pipes I would call that a big yes!

Word of caution: I built two acoustic guitars using cocobolo and now, due to the exposure, I am really allergic to cocobolo wood dust. Like trouble breathing allergic. Be careful! Cool tamper.

When I make a pen using cocobolo I wear a mask and have a fan blowing across the wood away from me. This helps to reduce the amount fine dust(flour) during sanding that will be inhaled.

To find out the toxicity of the wood check wood-database.com.

I like to carve tampers out of sticks while I'm smoking. I now have piles of them sitting around, even after giving away a bunch.

And something that looks like it came from the under world. Deer antler shot in 1967 by my Grandpa. This one will be a keeper.
