Did Half & Half Change, Too?

Wish I could have tried the old half and half before my time. I was confused when I purchased some a while back. Smelt like cheap tobacco and smoked like… well, cheap tobacco. Crazy thing is though is you can get haunted bookshop or the like for cheaper than a pouch of h&h.

Sounds like Half and Half has changed several times over the years and the current good "old stuff" was the awful "new stuff" at one time.

I enjoy H&H as a change from English. It's a good thing too, as I have over 150 pouches and 8 cans of it.

They all changed with the switch to Denmark. I like the new half&half over the old but heavily mourn the loss of the old velvet and swr. I mostly smoke the DR made prince albert now as my main codger smoke. As others have said, Pegasus!

I only just got in my first can of H&H the other day from cigarbid.. Meant to put it down for a while, sitting next to a tub of Carter Hall for company.. Havent smoked any H&H before so I wouldn't be able to attribute any changes. When were the 'newer' offerings rolled out?

STG bought out Lane Limited in 2011, however production remained at Lane's Tucker Georgia plant until sometime between late 2019 and 2020. It's hard to give an exact date because that was also around Covid (tho the closure was planned before that).
The main demarcation is between the 12oz and 7oz tins. They switched this size when switching production between Georgia and Denmark so it makes it an easy spot.

I actually just purchased some old stock 12oz. from TinBids... 2x SWR Aromatic and 1 each of H&H and Granger.
At about $35-40 each shipped to me it was a pretty decent bargain considering that's not far from what many places today charge for the 7 ouncers and I already know for a fact I prefer the old Half & Half.

Like I've stated previously... I will be doing a comparison of the 2 plus a pouch from the 70's and posting results.. I will make a new thread but link it in this one.
