@houndstooth. That weakfish is a beauty! I'm not sure I've ever heard of them before though. Are they freshwater or saltwater? Being that you were in NY when you caught it, I figured it could be either one.

Petes03, they're like a Speckled sea trout. Salt water all the way. They are allegedly called Weakfish because they have somewhat weak jaws.
They are one of the more beautiful (and tasty) inshore Northeast Atlantic species in my opinion.

I figured it would make more sense to show a pic of my fishing cob than a shot of the wimpy black bass I caught 1 1/2 weeks ago...

My baby daughter came to stay with me at the fish camp for a few days. I say baby, she'll be 30 next week and starts her second year in Pharmacy School the week after that. Anyway, she had a ball and we caught a lot of fish. I brought home 16 quarts of fillets and she took home 6. Here was Tuesday mornings catch:

Never seen any lingcod up here in the Northeast. What a prehistoric looking fish. Must be good eating, eh??
GREAT looking photos guys.
You have me chomping at the bit to go steelhead fishing in upstate NY this fall. Although I hate to wish away the season.
