Probably not even the right website to post these type of conversations, but I am on day 101 of sobriety. I was politely asked to stop drinking by several government agencies and my job. I am finding my pipe use to be a handy tool in this journey. I wandered in to a local cigar bar yesterday and sat with a cup of coffee, a book, and my corn cob.

Just wondering if anyone else was on a similar life adventure.

Congratulations! I hope you did something special for day 100! I do imbibe, but my father in law is 18 years sober, so we go to meetings every once in a while, especially on his AA birthday and it is always inspirational. I also worked with a lot of people walking that journey when I was a psychotherapist and before that clinical associate. It's a tough road but well worth it for most! Congrats again!

due to mental and medical issues I have to pretty much be sober (if there is such a thing), I imbibe in some port wine occasionally but am going on a year now without drinking to be drunk. Keep the straight path brother, it’ll do you better in the long run

Good on you.

Seeing the posts here, it's a fine reminder for me to try and be kind to everyone I meet. Not always easy, but everyone in this world has a bag of hammers that they carry and it's brave for people like you to put that out there.

Good luck on your journey. All of you.

Congratulations! While the impetus for your start in sobriety came from the outside, I hope to heaven you are motivated to do so just for yourself.

Keep us posted, please!

Tomorrow will actually be 4 years since I last had a drink, but my actual sobriety date isn't wasn't until 1/26/16 (I relapsed on valium in rehab). I've been extremely fortunate, and try to take it one day at a time,. AA, sponsorship and the 12 steps were incredibly helpful for me. I actually started smoking a pipe around the same time and found it pretty helpful to have something new to get interested in.

February 21, 2019 was the day I hit my bottom and asked for help. I have been clean since then, and still keep my desire chip in my pocket. The pipe is a good tool to help with the missing ritual aspect. Keep going you’re not alone, and if you start feeling like you’re struggling - get to a meeting. Isolation doesn’t do anything but hurt which is why the meetings are important in my opinion.
