I too can only speak highly of Davorin. I got his pipe a few days ago, a commissioned pipe, we exchanged several emails and he is a good person.

I have 2 mortas from Davorin. One purchased from Altinok,mane one directly from Davorin himself. I also have one of his olive wood pipes. He is a lovely person to deal with, and very friendly.

Both mortas are the lighter coloured "copper" morta which are noticeably denser than a few "black" mortas I have from other makers. Do bear in mind that "black morta" from another may be stained black and does not necessarily denote older material.

With morta, the quality is predicated by density, as this has a direct correlation to the mineral content absorbed by the wood over the Millenia.

I have contacted Davorin directly and you are correct; he is a pleasure to work with. I have commissioned with him to produce a special Black Morta for me in the Rhodesian design. I will be sure to post a picture of the finished product.
