My issue with the Davidoff pipes is that I don't know which "master artisans" are involved Davidoff is a "brand", an affiliation, not a "pipe maker".
This is what bothers me about davidoff too. I smoked davidoff cigarettes for a while, they're no different to the richmond superkings I've smoked for years. A friend of mine went to the davidoff shop in London a few weeks ago and commented on the variety of products at extortionate prices, i.e, watches, cufflinks, etc, and I figure you're pretty much just paying for the brand.
I like the look of some davidoff pipe tobaccos, but I've always been put off the higher price point compared to other reputable blenders (nearly £17 for a tin of davidoff scottish mixture compared to an average £12 for dunhill MM965). I wonder what, other than the name can justify an extra 1/3 on the price...
