I'm not sure how the old stuff was, or even when the change happened. But they bulk I've been buying since 3 years ago is wonderful stuff. Ryback and Two timer are some of my favorites.

I should hope so. Mark is still with the company, through 2025 at least, per this account: Daughters & Ryan Sells Majority Stake - https://tobaccoreporter.com/2020/11/02/daughters-ryan-sells-majority-stake/

and a summary, courtesy Bing Chat:
**Mark Ryan**, the founder and president of **Daughters & Ryan**, made a significant decision by selling a majority stake in the company to **Inter-Continental Trading USA**. The exact sum of the transaction remains undisclosed. Ryan, however, will continue to be associated with the company for at least five more years. The primary motivation behind the sale was to ensure the continuity of their pipe tobaccos in the market. Daughters & Ryan, which began as a manufacturer and distributor of roll-your-own (RYO) tobacco, expanded into the pipe market with premium pipe tobaccos, cigars, and e-liquids. The company also offers other tobacco products (OTP) such as cigarette tubes, rolling papers, and shisha accessories. The sale allows Inter-Continental to take control of manufacturing Daughters & Ryan cigarette tubes and pipe tobacco. Notably, Mark Ryan's L.A. Poche Perique Tobacco Co. in Louisiana was not included in the stock sale. Perique, a unique type of tobacco grown exclusively near New Orleans, remains under his ownership¹.

I bought a pound of Rowland gold post sale, before it was eventually discontinued and it was a totally different blend from presale. Not for the better.

Whether the last remaining blends had any similar change, I don’t know. I only smoked Rowland gold and TAPS VIP which also was discontinued.

Some blends have changed. The original Ryback was a cigarette blend similar to europeans roll your own. The last ryback i tried was completly different. Now is a strong dark fired blend better in a pipe than in a cigarette.
Seems all the good European stuff that was dark zware has been replaced by dark fired whatever the OG Drum, bali,Gauloises, swazen kruger, all of it , that leaf has flown and it's a real bummer...

I've noticed the change in Ryback as well. For years I smoked it as an RYO cigarette tobacco when I wanted something similar to Drum and it was fairly mellow and gentle on the lungs, but now it's so harsh when used as a RYO tobacco that it makes my lungs feel like they're being rubbed down with sandpaper; and not the fine grit stuff either. Ryback is still nice as a pipe tobacco, but definitely not suitable for RYO cigarette use anymore.

You fellas make me glad that I stocked up on a few D&R blends before Mark sold the company. I may have over bought on a couple blends, but the discount was really good so it was worth it. I should have bought some Picayune, though.

From what I am reading, it sounds like the new company is using their own tobacco sources for some of the varietals.

Jim, do you know what in general type of leaf was in the old Ryback before it became what seems to be dark-fired and bright Va?
And I would gladly trade you some Picayune for some Ramback if you would like.

I see your question was answered. I'd do that trade, but I didn't buy Ramback either. I stocked heavily on Three Sails, Windsail, Penhooker, Penhooker Silver, Two Timer, Two Timer Gold, VIP (bought him out), the Raccoon series (bought him out), AB and AP Rimboche. Should have bought less AB, and got more SJ Rimboche.
