Congratulations - that's a very rare Peterson. Any Peterson with London hallmarks is rare, but up until now I had only seen a couple of straight billiards from the 1950's.

If that's the pipe I think it is, it was on ebay for a very short time - I looked at a couple of photos for condition (didn't even get to the hallmarks), and ...poof... it was gone!

Again, great pick-up.

Yeah it was the same one. I believe this is the first/earliest recorded year of the pipes made in London. I’ll be sending her out for restoration soon.

Btw, this isn’t accurate. I have several Made in England (Rugby Style). Amazing what the experts don’t know. And how little we actually know.

I try to be careful not to deem people experts for no reason other than that they have a blog or website. Mark Irwin is the expert on Petersons, and he's one of the few experts who is always looking for new information, and enjoys updating 'the facts' when new facts appear.

The only English made Peterson I have has the London Made over England Block Format stamping. I'm assuming that's closer to the end of the English made Peterson era.
