Thanks for letting me know. I think I may try to get some eventually.I have a bunch of Krater plug. It’s nice. Ive put it away for a while, but I also prefer to smoke st James plug or Synjeco greenodd.
Not even close. Dark plug is like 10 times stronger than old dark fired. Brown bogie is a rope not a spun cut and again it's very strong. Nothing similar about themExplore Gawith and Hoggarth products if you haven't already done so. Maybe Dark Plug or Brown Bogie. It's still not the sasame.
I was wondering about this. I saw that and nearly night some today because it sounded just like Dark Twist. Thank you for confirming!Eric Stokkeby’s Night Slice is virtually the same as Dark Twist with just a little black cavendish which was arguably also in dark twist.
A complex, hand-spun coin tobacco, Erik Stokkebye's Night Slice marries mature, Old Belt Virginias to a healthy portion of Dark-Fired Kentucky and a dose of Black Cavendish, resulting in a smoke that's both rich and nuanced. Smoky and savory while still offering notes of tangy sweetness and citrus, this robust blend is well-suited for aging and is sure to appeal to discerning enthusiasts.
We're not even talking about replacements anymore. We know there are no "match" substitutes. As someone who likes Dark Twist I find that I like Brown Bogie too. I just cut some coins off of a rope of the Brown Bogie twist to dry for later in the morning. It doesn't have the DFK that I like, but.... I still like. Maybe the OP will like too. Interesting. It looks so similar I'm thinking it was made by Mac Baren?Eric Stokkeby’s Night Slice is virtually the same as Dark Twist with just a little black cavendish which was arguably also in dark twist.

Orlik makes the stokkebye round slices. Newminister round slices would be another good replacement for dark twist. Virginia wrapped around a dark fired Kentucky center.Interesting. It looks so similar I'm thinking it was made by Mac Baren?
Is Newminster going away? I thought this was owned by Sutliff or Mac Baren?Orlik makes the stokkebye round slices. Newminister round slices would be another good replacement for dark twist. Virginia wrapped around a dark fired Kentucky center.
It's owned by villager and blended by macbaren. But erik stokkeybye is the president of orlik tobacco that makes peter stokkebye, so I could see orlik taking over production. There's been nothing about it being discontinuedIs Newminster going away? I thought this was owned by Sutliff or Mac Baren?
Very well said! I am in the same boat. I only recently discovered Dark Twist. I absolutely love it!I've been smoking Dark Twist Roll Cake for years and haven't found anything like it, for me the star is how they do the maple sugar in this blend, a good smoke is like smoking pancakes with maple syrup. Any other maple blend I tried tasted like burnt plastic.
I've tried to boost the smidgen of DFK in Dark Twist Roll Cake with adding small portions of DFK bombs like Dark Bird's Eye, Lakeland Dark, Bold Kentucky, even Cimette Toscani with mixed (mostly bad) results.
Bottom line is there's probably no good maple-flavoured Virginia+DFK/Cavendish out there to match, if there was I'd have probably found it because I love the MacBaren offering.
