I am sure with your attitude things will work out for the best. Congrats on the upcoming wedding and maybe now you can take off a little extra time with your new bride.

Oh man! That bites, for sure :/

I will definitely keep you in prayer.

I got the pink slip from my doctor. "You can't be doing this anymore." Is what I was told.

Hubby's job will come to an expected end next month. The end of a situation is the beginning of another. In all of my years on this planet, there is one thing that I know for sure - God provides. He always has and always will. I've sold my plasma to buy food, I've taken cans back for bus fare to get to the Salvation Army for food and diaper vouchers. I don't say that so you'll feel bad for me, just that you do what you have to do. Keep walking straight on with your focus to the other side of this and you'll get through this. The other side for me? I went to college and became a nurse. My son, for whom the voucher diapers were for, teaches HS chemistry and said "I never knew we were poor."

Here's a hokey thing to remember. This is a season. Seasons pass and change. This season will pass. I hope it passes soon for you and is fruitful. That is my prayer for you :)

That sucks, but you do seem to have the right attitude. Just make sure you put some quality time in with your pipes as you mull over your next career move.

Good luck, Zonomo. I'm likewise looking for a new gig - and I just got a random e-mail from a recruiter about a job in Seattle, so there's definitely something out there. :)

Being laid off sucks for sure, as I've been down that road as well. Always best to have a good attitude, and for me it was a blessing in disguise as it led to a better position which later led to a job I really love and enjoy. Good luck with the job search, and hopefully it will lead to something you'll enjoy doing.

Thanks everyone - been a great start already. Thank God for LinkedIn. :) There are some great jobs out there. It's kind of like looking for a new Tobacco. Wondering which one will be nice and tasty.....

Zonomo: when I was "retired" by my company, a friend told me not to worry too much. "You will be fine," he said. Just mix and match, he said, meaning to take a lot of short, different jobs than what I had been accustomed to doing.
I did. I freelance for a living now. I am busier than I have ever been. And it's a good thing. I can supplment my meager retirement income with freelancing.
I don't suggest that for you, but just stay positive, keep looking and mix and match. You will be fine.

Sorry to hear about your involuntary unemployment. Sounds like you'll be fine, though. Not sure if I would if it happens to me...
