As almost exclusively a smoker of English Blends; I'm looking at trying some Aromatics, of which I have next to no experience with.
A NON-smoking friend suggested Blue Note.
Are there any thoughts positive or otherwise regarding this blend?
The reason I ask, is that it seems to have a reputation as an over the top Aromatic.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Howdy oldsoldier,
Blue Note is the sweetest blend I have ever tried and certainly one of the most unique. It is not goopy or gunky, just plain sweet.
I will never purchase this blend again. Once was enough. I personally enjoy pipe tobacco that tastes like tobacco. Blue Note is akin to smoking cotton candy.
I think for aromatic fans, Blue Note will be their creme' de la creme' as it is a quality compilation. Kudo's to Dan Tobacco for making it. Blue Note just isn't my thing, personally.

I am mostly an Aromatic smoker and enjoy both Blue Notes. Yes...there are two. I agree with pipestud on the Dan Tobacco version for sure, though good luck trying to find it these days. Dan Tobacco aromatics are getting hard to find in the US. A testament to their quality.
Altadis makes their version of Blue Note under their Tobacco Galleria line. They have discontinued this line and hopefully will put it back into their bulk Altadis offerings like it was before. This is a good blend but it is very goopey and tends to consist of tobacco crumbles then larger cuts. To me it tastes similar but different, but also no where near the quality on the original Dan Tobacco version.
As a side note, I would recommend Captain Bob's Blend from C&D. It is a hybrid / crossover for english smokers into the aromatic realm. I haven't tried it but have only seen good things about it and am going to try it to try to crossover into englishs myself.

After checking it seems Altadis put their version of Blue Note under their Sutliff Brand

I like Dan's Blue Note and keep it in my cellar along with several Dan blends.

Blue Note = quality leaf that burns well - top shelf aromatic! Sweet with a blueberry/vanilla essence.

Don't know why but this blend just becomes transcendent when paired with cognac or scotch - more so than other tobacs IMHO!

My thanks to you 3 gentlemen; I'll give it a try.

A big step out of my comfort zone this will be.
