There are several video's up on YouTube and everyone I know that's bought one is very pleased. They're made in Italy I believe and are made at the same factory Chris Morgan has his Briar Cigar made. I've heard them compared to good quality Savinelli pipes, but some may think they're better. Opinions differ but everyone seems pleased with them so far.

Checked their pipe site out and I have to say, I'm planning on buying one of their pokers even if their logo has a skull in it. The pipes look nice, the price is good and I like the fact that they're trying to appeal to the everyday Joe. I for one, enjoy their YouTube videos. They're funny and informative. I like the fact that Jay and his dad are the anti-thesis of the Hollywood pipe smoking stereotype of the well bred, elitist, ascot-wearer. They come across as regular guys and I personally appreciate that. Not everyone has the dough to drop big coin on a piece of wood you suck smoke through. I wish I had seen their pipes earlier but Santa (the wife) already has the list I have him (her). Lucky I have a birthday in a month.

I think Jay Dagner, Joe Case, Black Bird Pipes, etc., are setting up a new trend which will promote pipe smoking in all walks of life. This is indeed a most fortunate event. One of the things that put people off smoking in a pipe is the image or lifestyle most people associate it with, that is, that of a gentleman´s, a university professor´s, an author´s, etc. Jay Dagner and other people like him are conveying the idea you can be a skater, love Harley Davidson bikes or heavy metal music, etc., and still be able to smoke in a pipe (no contradiction here). And I can see this new trend growing bigger and bigger in the short/medium term around certain pipe shapes, namely, pokers, dublins and nose warmers, which I define as the new craze in the world of pipe smoking.

I really doubt anyone associates pipe smoking with aristocrats or professors anymore. When is the last time you saw a Hugh Hefner in a smoking jacket out at a club or a professor smoking in a class room? If anything it is associated with curmudgeonly old men and hipsters. Bikers though have been pipe/stogie smokers in my town since I was a kid. Also there have been good pipes for less than $100 for as long as I have smoked a pipe so it's not like they are bringing affordability to the hobby. I think this site does a much better job of promoting pipe smoking for a wide breadth of people and personalities. If you ask me these guys are on the tail end of an existing trend and most certainly didn't start it. Again though, if they can make a living off it more power to them. If their pipes offer quality beyond their price, even better. I fully agree that good press of any kind will help pipe smokers and more people buying baccy will protect the blends from disappearing.

The membership of this forum shows that is well entrenched in all walks of life. Has been for hundreds of years. I rode a Harley for many years, beginning long before they sold out to the Italians. Now that they are back to their roots I'm too old and crippled up to ride. I've always tried to behave in a gentlemanly manner, failed more than once, and, believe it or not did teach Skating 101 at the University as I played hockey and could skate and the instructor could not. And, I did smoke in the my classroom which was a lake located near the University. I also built railroad as a teen, worked retail in my 60's, and fought in a war. But, in all my years I never connected the pipe to any particular clas of people.
I know Stalin smoked pipes, as did MacArthur. Mammy Yokum still smokes her pipe upside down I presume. I think Hefner smoked as an affectation, forgive me if I got that wrong. I've seen more than one Irish farmer quietly smoking his pipe, sitting a a low rock wall, watching his sheep.
I do not think any class of people were solely relegated to the pipe or that certain people where prohibited from the pipe. It's a vice open to all!
A pipe is just a pipe, unless it's a Dunhill. Then it is probably in Peck's atelier, resting on a hand carved mahogany rack in pristine condition even though it is thoroughly cleaned, reamed and buffed after each smoke.

I started smoking a pipe last May. Since then I've explored the topic online which led me to this forum among other informational sites, including youtube.

I've watched several of the Dagner's videos and found them to be entertaining. (not so much anymore)

From that perspective I guess you could say the lads have 'promoted' the subject as they have also developed an audience from which they are now attempting to profit.

Using the internet as a marketplace may lead them to an economic bonanza.
I'll look elsewhere for any new pipe, however, because I think that I can find a pipe with more soul from an aspiring craftsman who has produced his own work.
