A co-worker of mine has his father's pipes but can't bring himself to try to smoke them (he's not a smoker). He says he gets emotional when handling them and can't do it. He has his father's signature tattooed on his arm.

Condolences, losing a parent is always tough. That freehand looks like a Nording stem, or maybe where Notding got his inspiration. A rare Danish pipe?

My Dad smoked a pipe to relax since i can remember, mainly at weekends in the garden and in the pub beer garden. He had a lot more pipes, but these were some of his favourites. I may go through his collection at a later date but wanted to grab these and any unopened/jarred tobacco before my mum threw them out! We used to sometimes smoke together on a walk to the pub or in the Garden. A nice father and son moment!

Sorry to hear about your Dad. That is nice that you have those to remember him, go out and smoke a bowl for his memory now and then. That's good.

Thanks, you're right he was in his 80s and had a good life. He never had too much tobacco at one time (unlike me). Recently as i got into the hobby he tried all sorts of tobacco having been quite conservative for many years. Some he loved and some not so much! I'm not sure he ever tried the O dream! But I'll give anything a go!
that's a good run.

I have for the last decade helped my father take care of his pipe collection. When the time comes, I will fondly add his pipes to my collection - certainly not to be sold. My mother died a few years ago and I was happy to have a few items of hers that she loved. Memories are precious. Wishing you all the best.

My condolences, it’s awesome you could share a pipe and tobaccos with him.
My father smoked a pipe in the sixties to early eighties. Fortunately he’s still with us, but on the downhill side (he’ll be ninety five next week).
My pipe journey began at 55 a few years ago when I was visiting and partaking of electronic nicotine delivery in his garage and spied his old Decatur rack on the shelf, still full of most of his pipes. I asked if I could have one or two for memories sake and wound up with them all.
I wish I could have had a smoke with him, but am grateful to have been able to smoke with him on his porch. He’d try to catch all the room note he could.
I’m going to miss him when he goes, and daily wish I’d have been a better son and stayed closer.
They’ll always live in our hearts, and physical remembrances only strengthen that.

May God be with you and yours…

My deepest condolences to you and your family.

My Mom died in 2006 and Dad followed in 2010. Both were chain smokers, which actually drove my sisters and I away from it. I have several items that belonged to my parents. Mostly my Dad's tools, which I use often. And every time I complete a project with one of his tools, I take a moment to stop and look up and thank Dad for what he taught me and what he left me. I also like to look back on a project and imagine what my Dad would say about my work.

I hope your Dad's pipes do the same for you. I hope that when you finish a bowl, you look up and say something to your Dad.

I am wishing you and your family peace during these hard times. May the memory of your father live on every time you spark up one of his most treasured briars.
