Hello everybody
I am wondering if it would be possible to customise a pipe by adding brass rings to the shank? I have no particular pipe in mind but am wondering generally. I have in mind adding one or two thin rings of brass around the shank towards the stem. If this is at all possible, where can one get it done here in Europe?
Thank you kindly in advance

When you say "ring" do you mean "band." as in the metal band on this pipe?

You will want to do a sketch or something. I find it hard to imagine two bands or rings on a shank. I do banded repairs and customizations in silver and gold for clients of The Briary, but I am not looking for more work in this area, as it is not a bread and butter for me. But, I will do them for The Briary and friends.

Maybe someone will help you with European pipe repairmen.

Hello again, my apologies for the extreme delay in replying. Thank you for your messages.
I have in mind actually is having three quite narrow brass rings added, each around 1mm in width with the same distance in between. It's funny you should post that photo with the ancor, in my case it's a navy thing. Perhaps it would be impossible to do?
Thank you again

Philip

You definitely need drawings to visualize what your have in mind, to show the placement of the bands/rings. Are they to be plain or engraved? You need to think this through. Also, you need to decide on a pipe. The project would not be inexpensive, so you need enough of a pipe to warrant the expenditure. You really want to map this out, and discuss it with one or more crafts people. I'd definitely look for someone with pipe experience, and not just metalwork. brad's pipe-with-anchor is a real work of art and is worth (I surmise) quite a sum.
