Hey folks, I'm pretty new in pipe smoking, I have a pipe I don't who was the owner, but I guess it's pretty old. What do you think is it old or it's just me? The bowl is made of some sort of metal. How would you rate it ? Best wishes

A metal bowl doesn't sound promising, for various reasons. It may not insulate heat at all. It may give off toxic fumes from heating up the metal, depending on what kind of alloy it is. Get a pipe made of traditional materials, in a known brand -- briar, meerschaum, cob, clay, etc. I think you'll have a better pipe smoking experience.

Erica is a nice name for a pipe 😄

Erica arborea is the taxonomic name of briar from which that pipe was made.

There are lots of safe, quality materials for pipes - briar, corn cobs, meerschaum, clay, morta.
Apple, pear and cherry woods and birch are others, if less durable

Usually, there's the manufacturer name and where the pipe was made engraved on the shank of the pipe. Like this:

Do these two pipes have marking like this? It'll be easier to know who's the maker and where it's made if there is.
