Well, this past year I kept track of how many times I smoked my meerschaum pipes, and with as many has I have it makes it hard to dedicate any real time to any one pipe. The most I smoked any one meerschaum pipe was 27 bowls. It's going to take me forever to color these things. LOL

Currently I have 44 pipes in my collection, and while I like my collection, I clearly don't need that many. Though I don't have as many briar pipes, there are some that just don't get smoked much if at all, and I finally smoke one of my corn cobs for the first time in well over a year. Plus, being a cigar guy, and primarily smoking cigars in the summer months, I neglect my pipes even more.

So, I decided that I'm going to cull the herd a bit and sell off some of my meers that I just don't smoke that much and a couple briars. With having less pipes in the collection, I won't feel as if I'm neglecting them so much. Plus, I can pass them along to someone else who will put good use to them. Over the years ove smoking pipes, PAD has hit hard at times, and I've had to cull the herd before, and I find myself at the point of doing it again. Anyone else find themselves selling off pipes from time to time?

My current collection...

Yeah, it happens. Sometimes I just realize I’m not smoking some pipes and don’t see that changing anytime soon and I let them go to new homes.

There are quite a few that I don’t smoke often but won’t part with for sentimental or personal reasons aside from the pipes themselves (gifts and such).

nice collection! I don't even know how many i have. Aside from the 25-30 that are 'at the ready,' there are several estates needing cleaning, 'spare' clays and cobs, and a couple/three new unsmoked briars... but in the scheme of things, culling my pipes doesn't even come close to making onto a 'to do' list, and probably not ever in this lifetime. gifting is another thing, and consider that altogether different.

Many of the ones I would choose to part ways with simply aren't worth that much money. I am almost tempted to toss them; however, to someone with an eye toward some of the more forgotten brands, such as Pipe Maker, I would be willing to sell them. At this point, I have my personal favorites and I have some sentimental favorites as well as a few interesting pieces I don't see myself selling.

Damned. It is so hard to let go.

If you're culling any of the dragon ones in those pics (the claw or dragon meers or the dragon briar poker), I might be interested... though I'm assuming those are probably ones that won't be culled.
The Egg & Claw is a CAO and that one is staying as is the Tekin Dragon. The poker is my Prince of Darkness Poker (Ozzy Osbourne / Black Sabbath themed), that I had commissioned by SparkysPipes. That one is also staying. Those are some of my favorites. ;)

At the moment ebay, and see how it goes for a bit. If no luck there then maybe on here.
From personal experience, I'd recommend offering them for sale here at the net price you think you'd get on eBay. After you deduct the listing fees and commissions, you may do well by offering them here and you don't have to suffer the eBay crap. I'd send any remaining ones to Pipestud and just accept what I got. Due to the amount of traffic and trust Steve has established, he may get enough more to cover his commissions. Good luck regardless of what you decide.
