The idol will be fired and ready for staining this Thurday, after which I will add some flecks (as Lovecraft described) of gold. Look out Friday or Saturday!

The sculpture bug has bitten me; I may do more sculptures in the near future.

Unless it explodes in the kiln--I've seen that happen to sculptures that weren't carefully bonded together--the idol should be finished this weekend. Should make an ideal deskpiece.

Just got a note that the sculpture is being fired for the first time today. Which means I'll be at studio tomorrow staining the idol (if it hasn't exploded during the firing process).
The cool thing about creating a work of art is that it never looks like what you originally envisioned--the finished piece is always a surprise. Wish me luck.
