As a matter of fact, that's why I started smoking a pipe in high school. I could smoke in the bathroom and quickly conceal the pipe if an authority figure entered the room looking for cigarette smokers.

The last few years of teaching I would tell my female students who kept getting ‘busted’ at school that they needed to form a band, and record their own updated version:
“Vaping in the Girl’s Room”! Said, easy song to learn and y’all would make a mint!

I've taken the precaution of using FVF if there will be a need to pocket a lit pipe, although I had recent success with Cabbie's when catching a bus. I think SG blends are safer overall, to be honest.

Friends
Both served in WWI
Both members of the Inklings
Both great writers often dismissed by "literary critics" (I just watched a 2004 documentary about Tolkien and the later part of the show documented how literary critics dismissed Tolkien's writing because it didn't read like F.Scott Fitzgerald.)
Both were lifelong pipe smokers.

My wife recently read Becoming Mrs Lewis. It’s an historical fiction novel about the love story between Jack and Joy. I found her comments about the book interesting enough to start reading it myself, and I’m not ashamed to say I enjoy it, and as a Lewis fan, it is a refreshingly different angle.

There are 2 movies about Lewis that I have enjoyed (and at least one shows him enjoying his pipe) -The Most Reluctant Convert and Shadowlands. The first about his coming to faith (so says Capt. Obvious) and the other about his relationship with Joy. I commend both movies.

I have a bunch of Carhart T-shirts that have small holes in them from the embers that fall on them. Still wear them because I figure news ones would end up with the same damage to them.

An old friend of mine, gone now, had a wardrobe that consisted almost entirely of jeans and t-shirts. The shirts all had holes in them from the embers of the cigars he smoked constantly. The older the shirt, the more holes.
