I usually keep 1 to 3 lbs of luxury blends on my truck at any given time. Being the travelin man that I am, my company from time to time would like me to enter canada. I , however , am hesitant. Will I be

allowed to enter and exit unmolested, or will my stash be confinscated?

1-3 lbs! I dont think I'd keep that much tobacco in an environment that changes temp and humidity as often as a vehicle. I would minimize the amount I take over to avoid questioning.

You're taking a risk of needing to pay duty and taxes on any pipe tobacco over 200g. Here is a link with the details: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5119-eng.html#s5x2

It used to be that Americans could bring whatever they would use with them when they crossed the border. You may face duties coming back unless you can prove they are American bought goods returning to the US. Its a simple matter of calling the border station and asking.

There is a personal use exemption, but I'm not entirely certain of what it is. I'd call border services and they'll let you know the details.

I hear you Ogre. But the link I posted clearly spells out the duty free restrictions for Visitors to Canada, and the tobacco restrictions are the same as Canadian residents personal allowance.

@tanless: Well that certainly makes a lot more sense! A rolling cellar.

Well that thought did cross my mind. If I got up there, maybe I could leave a handsome sum in the territories.

Tanless, if you're wandering through Greater Toronto, holler this way and we'll see if we can swing some guys together for an impromptu burner someplace.

Did I mention the East Coast of Canada has some of the finest Atlantic Salmon Waters in the world? :P
