Cross Country Road Trip

the old lady andf i are heading cross country in a move from boston to portland oregon i am really looking forward to the drive but am open to any and all suggestions for b&m tabak shops, roadside stops, food, lodging, campsites, and just a good spot to stop take in a view and smoke a bowl full of goodness we leave in late august so seasonal things are cool to i.e. fairs, carnival,flea markets,

Depends on how rushed you are. What type of camping you do.
I would say visit Mt. Rushmore, Bear Tooth pass , near red lodge Montana, Yellowstone, Stanley Idaho, Saw Tooth, White Bird Idaho, Columbia gorge.
That is just my likes.
