@grouchydog Thanks bud.

@woodsroad I wanted to keep this one a heavy Latakia blend and a little bit on the heavy side with lots of nicotine. If this experiment goes well in a few months, I will try to get a Light Virginia Blend.
I think this chemistry if fairly okay. Want to discuss the blending process in my next thread.
Cheers,

Chris

@andrew I haven't decided on the specific kind of tobacco to be used, that would be my next step. I wanted to see if this blend would work outside the theory box. I think I would reduce the percentage on the perique to a bare minimum as I just want a very small hint of it in the mix. Also I won't order the components together mixed, I want to blend them myself.
A little tweak to the blend.
Latakia 50%

Oriental 25%

Dark Fired 15%

Red Virginia 10%

Perique 2%
What do you all think, shall I go freeze the blend percentages and order up some tabaci?
Cheers,

Vikas

Thank you for sharing my blogpost! Whisky-flavour in tobacco does not work really well in my opinion. Of course smoking a pipe and drinking whisky can be a good combo. Glad to see you ditched the whisky in your blend. I am curious about the outcome of it.

@arno665 Hey Dutch, Thanks for stopping by, I will use real whisky instead of whisky infused tobacco in the blending process. This is my first ever attempt, will take some time for me to get all the stuff, have to figure out the fungus issue as well. Do I go with an antifungal or vinegar? Have to research a bit on the entire thing, but as of now the blend components are more or less final.
Cheers,

Chris

Really curious how this ends! If you use whisky instead of whisky-infused tobacco you have more control about the process. And remember, a little goes a long way! Perhaps 5 ml per 100 gr of tobacco. And I would personally would use a peated whisky which ads to the latakia.

@arno665 Yup thats exactly what I am going to do. Just sprinkle the whisky as a nice misty cloud over the tobacco so it infuses itself with the dry leaves, then let it dry and repeat it again. I am concerned with fungus, perhaps Vinegar or Mycoban in very very low quantity to not let the leaves grow mold.
Cheers,

Chris

Just a little update:

I have sourced the tobaccos from PipesandCigars.com website but before I start on the process I would be needing a few things for the setup. I will be bothering a few of you in the Private Messages.
Main Concern

Right now my main concern is molding of the tobacco as it will be blended in St. Pete's, Florida. What is the most common and safest process to safeguard tobacco from molding. I read mycoban is effective but I dont want to use something like that. What about vinegar?
Would really appreciate your thoughts and experience on this.
As this blend is Latakia heavy, shall we call it The Blarney Stone?
Cheers,

Chris
