drwatson, no one is bashing PC we are just relying what is taking place with our orders. Notice no one has stopped ordering from them, it is just frustrating to see tins rattling around for no good reason. Once a tin loses it's seal then it has to be jarred, I don't want to go through the time and expense of jarring tins. I buy tins specifically because I can store them in their original containers. How hard is it to pack a box properly? How hard is it to use the right packing materials so tins do not get dented? Now remember PC never had issues in regards to packing before the buy out, it is just recently. An issue like this is very easily rectified but if people do not say anything, how is Russ going to let someone know there is a problem that needs fixing. Now that Russ is aware and I am sure has told the right people, we should see a change in packing methods.

Cigrmaster, thank you for being a gentleman! I truly understand the frustration of poorly packed items, I also understand that there is no way to make everyone happy and every person is going to have a different way of doing things. I personally collect the peterson tins from the holidays, and when one is dented I get bummed. I read way more then I post here, and it just seems like alot of negative complaining at times.
Anyone who doesn't understand this does not have half a brain in their skulls
Eric, BAD FORM!!!!! I've probally been smoking longer then you have been alive

Got my order from P&C today with a lot of tins. All wrapped in bubble wrap, pro pack job. May have just caught someone late for something or just having one of those days...

drwatson, you are welcome.
I just had a thought on how this issue can be resolved. If all of us were to email Russ when we put in an order, tell him our names and corresponding PM handles, he can go in back to the packing department and visually check each of our orders to make sure they are done correctly. This would not take up too much of Russ's time. lol

Although I haven't made any tobacco orders in a few months (I know.. shameful of me) I really hope this all gets squared away and things get back to normal. I've always had great experiences with P&C and they've been my go to shop for awhile now. I'm sure that whatever this glitch is will get worked out.

The issue had been addressed. Our shippers are more familar with shipping cigars, and special protocols weren't put in place for pipes and tins. The air bags work fine, in general for stogies, but not so much for keeping tins from banging around. We'll be working with shipping to begin using kraft paper or bubble wrap to avoid these problems going forward. Although I hated seeing this, it brought the problem to my attention as I haven't heard directly about this. Now that I'm aware, it's being handled. Please feel free to contact me directly at russo@pipesandcigars.com or call me at 800-494-9144 x 254 if there's anything I can help with.

Russ, thanks for bringing it to the attention of the powers that be. Just for your edification, smokingpipes uses a combo of bubble wrap and peanuts in their packing.
rich from 4 noggins wraps all my tins in nothing but the finest silks and then bubble wrap, the man is all class.

Once again, I think this discussion has run its course.
Thanks to everyone for their contributions to the thread. This seems to have been useful in bringing to light an issue that needed addressing, which has now been fixed.
