So what do you figure the chances of this being meer are? (I sent the vendor a PM)
Is this pipe missing an insert? I quite like the 'bash shape, but that bowl looks ridiculously massive for tobacco...
Finally, because everyone needs a Rolley Rolex vest-pipe ( :crazy: ), I thought you might get a kick out of this. I felt bad, and sent him an email offering him $30 for the bunch...

I have had similar experiences at antique stores... A women tried selling me a Dr. Garbow with a burnt out bowl, and bit through stem, for 80 bucks...plus a run of the mill 4-pipe stand for 50.... go figure

Saw a Preben Holm pipe in an antique store, marked "from the1940's", along with a Barling and a Charatan's make, all over $80 each. The Barling turns out to be from the 60's. That Preben was pretty bad off too.

haha No one here in Oklahoma has much in the way of pipes, but one guy has like 15 meers from Turkey and he wants like 300 for the lot. I was thinking of offering him $150 since they have been up for a couple months.

The meer pipe looks like a deal. The 'bash is missing the bowl, a replacement meerschaum bowl will run you $35 or so, and probably take some time with a file to make it fit. If you could buy the pipe for $30 or less, and dont mind fitting the bowl I'd say go for it.

The guy with the meer seems sort of sketchy; I have a suspicion that something other than tobacco has been smoked through this pipe, but I am going to check it out this weekend. Frigging Steveston though...bah.

The guy with the warden and vest pipe replied, it seems he was insulted by my offer and has informed me that "if I'm not going to take this shit seriously, I can expect to be reported for abuse". I couldn't help but fan the flames; sent him links to similar pipes (both unsmoked) on Ebay for less than $25 each, shipping in, and told him that I wouldn't want anything to do with his supervalue tobacco anyway...but why would he only include one pouch if he's quit? :twisted:
