My thoughts are with his family at this time. He sounded like a true gentleman and he was definitely an icon in our little community. Rest in peace, Craig.

My condolences to the entire Tarler family. The entire pipe community mourns the loss of a great creative soul who has given so much pleasure to so many of us.
My prayers go out that Patty, Sally, Pam and Chris may find strength and comfort in the realization that Craig is now in a better place, undoubtedly enjoying a bowl of his latest creation. And one day, may we join him there and blow smoke rings in everlasting joy.
I second a bowl of that Autumn Evening. :puffpipe:

I never have tried any C&D blends yet, I will have to pick one up in his honor. I watched the pipes and cigars video taking a tour through his facility, he seems like a great man, may he find peace. :worship: :crying:

This is some sad news. I have never met him personally but just had a few of his blends and they are spectacular. Thanks for that Craig. You will not be forgotten.

Condolences to the family. That said, he lived the life he wanted and successfully engaged himself with his passion. Sounds like an example we should all strive to live by. RIP Craig.

I only knew Mr. Tarler through his blends that I have smoked and loved but it seems that we have lost a genius from the pipe community. The Tarler family is in my thoughts and prayers. This bowl of Three Friars is for you, Mr. Tarler. Pipes up, ladies and gentlemen.

Sad news. I feel for his family and we will all miss a fellow tobacco enthusiast.

Craig told me there were less than fifty people that he worked with in his manufacturing of tobacco career the same way he worked with me. Captain Bob's Blend caught his interest as well as his inspiration. We had so much fun developing the blend together for two and a half years. Eventually, he proposed the artwork. When he decided to go public with the blend, I declined receiveing any remuneration. As a result, it is still the only tinned blend with artwork available on the C&D bulk pricing schedule. That is the way I wanted it and that is the way it is. I never had any intention of making money on my blend. Originally, it was intended for me, only. As time went by, the word got out (primarily through Forum contacts) and there were numerous requests for CBB. The rest is history. The blend has been a success and recently, Chris Tarler emailed me that it is being ordered internationally, and most recently from Austrailia! Still, I have no interest in remuneration at all. It is just such a wonderful experience and I am so sad that I have lost a really wonderful friend. But, make no mistake about it, his son Chris is now at the helm and totally capable. Remember, "the apple does not fall far from the tree"!
Below is what I wrote in the Blog today:
"My love of the pipe was truly enhanced by our relationship. The experience of working on tobacco blends and visiting with Craig shall always remain a very special part of my life. He touched all those who knew him in a very special way that was a Blessing and so much fun. He will be missed by all who knew him. I have no doubt that the tradition he began will continue with Chris following in his footsteps. My prayers go out to his wonderful wife Patty, daughter Sally, daughter Pam and her husband Bob Hayes and his son, Chris, who has some big shoes to fill and I know he will!"
