No shit, Sherlock. Some science wannabes on this planet wants to humanely kill the crabs. Why not adapt them for pets instead of eating them? Why eat fishes, and in those particular countries, whales? Are we going to tell enemy soldiers "now, it's gonna hurt" before shooting them in hope they won't shoot first? No freaking common sense. If you think you are gonna piss of few dozen crabs by boiling them alive, don't eat 'em! I like 'em with Old Bay seasoning.

I sure as hell hope crabs feel pain. Otherwise the ones I've got might tell their friends to join as I try to get rid of them. 😛

Reminds me of a poem I read on a bathroom stall...

"As you sit upon that seat,
The crabs in here they jump three feet.
But lest you fret and run next door.
The crabs in there jump three feet more."

What's wrong with being more humane?
Hell even the pythons apparently are designed for more human killing. We are going to eat the thing no reason to sprinkle extra suffering into, unless of course you really just hate crabs. And part of me suspects that the hey crabs feel pain so don't do this or that to them... might really be more like coded instructions. Like the cakes of dried grapes sold from wineries during prohibition, that warned you not to do what would turn them into wine.

Hmm. Soak 'em in rum. They will die happy without pain, and might taste better.
There is a dish called "Drunken Prawns" served in some Chinese restaurants - live school prawns (shrimps) which are "drowned" in a bowl of ?rice wine.
I have been told the prawns thresh and leap frantically before they succumb.
I've never had this dish before. Nor have I been tempted to try.
And no, I do not have a squeamish stomach - just don't see the point

I’m waiting to find out that corn feels pain when it’s harvested, despite being dead at that time. I’m sure someone will do some “research” that shows it.
There are some purported pseudo-scientific articles stating that plants emit ultrasonic "squeals" when submitted to noxious stimuli
An April Fool's joke, a figment of someone's delusional state or research carried out under the influence of some "herbal substance" ?

The unfortunate part of life in an entropic universe is that living organisms are obligated to consume other living organisms to survive.

And crabs aren't clever or strong enough to eat humans, so WE eat THEM.

Double bad (for them) is that they also taste good.

Sweet corn is harvested live, and the stalks from which they are ripped shudder in pain but emit no sound.

Field corn- harvested usually when the plant is dormant, is already resigned to not reproducing, so has tuned out.
