Cowboy Coffee… and Cheese?

I am almost exclusively a Va/Per snob. 95% of what I smoke is some iteration of Virginia, perique, and occasionally a dash of unsweetened cavendish. However, I’m open to trying and enjoy all sorts of things.

So I heard people extol the virtues of CS’s cowboy coffee, and I thought I’d give it a try. I ordered a couple ounces and lit it up tonight. The first half of the bowl was more or less what I was expecting, a bit of tang from the Virginia and that woody/cardboard (in a good way) DFK. However, about 2/3 of the way through the bowl, I started getting overwhelming cheese notes on the retrohale. Like good, aged white cheddar cheese. I actually didn’t hate it, but I was perplexed by it.

In all of the reviews I’ve not seen anyone mention this. Anyone have a similar experience? I’ll revisit in a few days to see if the cheese abides

That would explain the psychedelic visions that accompanied the bowl. I thought that was just the Country Squire experience

Ah yes. The psychedelic unicorn. Was it the mold spores or the cleaning fluid which brought this on?

I've been smoking it almost every morning on the drive into work in the same pipe for several months and I've never picked up any hint of cheese.

Must be the cleaning fluid.
