I wish we had more freedoms. I would like to see people cooking a batch of corn whiskey while watering their marijuana patch, and smoking their best pipe tobacco. I think it would be fun to hear about whiskey stills blowing up now & then. I'm also curious to see how the deer react while standing in a field of marijuana.

As I commented on another recent post about a Florida hospital implementing this same policy, look for this trend to continue and expand...in both the public and private sectors (the line between which gets blurrier all the time).
Dang...was hoping this was just internet rumour crappola, but nope.

Quote from the article that, imo, is the true indication of why this is happening now, and where it’s headed:
But the tobacco ban, as opposed to just smoking, also coincides with the tobacco surcharge under the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare.

This is just one step closer the 'joke' I like to tell. That one day I'll be able to smoke pot wherever I want and tobacco will be illegal.

“The tobacco ban applies to anything that would produce nicotine."
Does this mean they're banning peppers and tomatoes and all the other veggies, I know tomatoes are a fruit, that contain nicotine?

Guess I'm waking up a 10-month-old thread, but this is exactly what I was talking to a former drug runner today about. He's from Salem but lived a long time in Seattle. He actually thought pot would be made legal back in the late '60s. He's Born Again (since '87) and no longer involved at all in drugs. He had no idea how hard anti-tobacco folks were hoping to make it on luxury tobacco hobbyists. Oregon has its own bill in the works to legalize recreational marijuana now.
I told him it gives me hope. It pot can make it, someday people will make tobacco socially acceptable.
Also mentioned to him, if we're worried so much about health, compare the way a tobacco-pipe smoker typically smokes and a pot smoker. Haven't seen a pipe smoker suck it in deep and hold it as long as they can like that. Unless I'm missing something? Is pot smoke cleaner or something? Doesn't load your lungs up with particulate maybe?
Confuses me. (Crap. Now I'm going off to Google what research has been done on pot smoking technique and damage to lungs vs. tobaccos, natural or cased).

Well, I'll be. I wouldn't expect to find an ally in the American Cancer Society's webpage. But it underscores my confusion.
Remind me, why are people trying to make it so difficult to buy and use tobacco again? Isn't it health related concern?
So now we're at the beginning of a trend to make pot smoking legal. You'd be tempted to think it must be healthier than tobacco smoking, maybe. Here's what the ACS said, though:
Tobacco vs. Marijuana

Like tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke contains cancer-causing chemicals. There are 33 cancer-causing chemicals contained in marijuana. Marijuana smoke also deposits tar into the lungs. In fact, when equal amounts of marijuana and tobacco are smoked, marijuana deposits four times as much tar into the lungs. This is because marijuana joints are un-filtered and often more deeply inhaled than cigarettes.
Marijuana smoke is also an irritant to the lungs, and frequent marijuana smokers can have many of the same respiratory problems experienced by people who smoke tobacco. These include coughing and phlegm production on most days, wheezing, bronchitis, and greater risk of lung infection.
http://www.lung.org/associations/states/colorado/tobacco/marijuana.html
Then... in those states, "sin taxes" and postal restrictions for tobacco couldn't be health-based, could they? (Surely this has been brought up before and I'm ignorant of the discussion).
Some state legislatures are smoking out both sides of their mouths, I think.
