Cotton Mouth

Howdy tschiraldi, there are quite a few tobacco shops in the area, but none really focus heavily on pipes except maybe one. Mostly cigar lounges around here... Havana House West, Cousins, Smokers ETC, The Pipe Rack. Pipe rack probably best place to burn a bowl, they have an "ok" selection of tinned baccy and their own blends in bulk as well.
I pulled 3 boxes of SG St. James Flake from 6/2014 and they seemed perfectly fine and not dried out. The flake was inside a ziplock bag within the box moist as ever. Put 3 boxes from that date in a half gallon jar anyways. Have some plume action going on to, so shiny :D

Since I started smoking pipes, I find I typically get a cotton mouth, or rough bumpy tongue in the morning that can feel a little sore.

That's not cotton mouth, that's a burnt tongue from smoking too hot. Cotton mouth=dry mouth, the feeling like you have a wad of cotton wool in your mouth absorbing all your saliva. Typically happens to dope smokers. It's the effect of an anticholinergic agent on your salivary glands, similar to atropine and some older meds given to quell nausea. It's why dope can mitigate nausea for people on chemo.

Everyone will say smoke more slowly, so, yes, that, but also consider drinking a lot of water.

Water?! You mean the stuff in the toilet?
