Correct Way to Measure Bent Billiard Length?

Is the length of a bent billiard or oom paul taken from the front of the bowl to the rear of the stem staying parallel to the rim?

Or is the length a diagonal measurement from the heal of the bowl to the rear of stem?

Or both?

I can’t speak for bent billiards but when it comes to Oom Pauls it has been settled- Paul Kruger himself insisted on a simple base to tip measurement, even if the number wasn't impressive. He knew the odd curvature would make up for what the numbers lacked.

If im selling a pipe, I just take a picture of it beside a ruler. Then people can use their map skills to figure it out themselves.

Like other measurements it depends on who you're trying to impress.

It's a matter of opinion, but I like a 3/4" inside diameter bowl that's about a inch and a half to two inches tall.

Them kinda rulers are spendy. Over a hundred bucks for a 12 incher.

I suppose the piece of mind that being SURE your pipe is 6.23 inches long and not 6.22 or 6.24 is worth it, though...
