Picked up a couple tins from SPC, and of courses I had to hit the $95 mark

This has been the biggest barrier to trying some of these for me recently.

I can more than happily get an order up to $95 for things like Folklore, Carolina Red Flake or Cringle Flake. But then for smaller releases I end up skipping them because I have a much harder time justifying spending $100 at SPC for something like this release. Of course you don't need half a pound or more of everything but then I feel like I'm getting ripped off for buying one or two tins and paying close to $12 for shipping.

C'est la vie I guess, I'm sure I'll be slapping myself in however many years it takes them to ban online sales.

I was planning to pick up some stuff, so hitting $95 wasn’t a big deal, but it’s something that I’m certainly aware of, which is why I have countless packs of pipe cleaners as I always seem to be a few dollars short

It's wild, because a year or two ago, sp had several of the C&D holiday blends from previous years that just sat forever. I think I bought a Now it sells out in a flash. Kudos to them for the excellent marketing.

There is always the possibility that C&D took the unsold 2018 and relabeled it for 2022.

Watch City generally has reasonable shipping cost for just a tin or two, depending on where you live.

bought some to get the free shipping, probably won’t like it, if that’s the case i let y’all know and you can just pay cost plus shipping, not really into the flipping fresh tins thing. Will post in a few days when it comes in.

it depends on your tastes. It's a va/per/cav with an orange/ginger topping and it is a noticeable topping. If you don't like like any of those things, it would not make sense to pick it up. The topping is pretty unique and it's my wife's favorite for me to smoke in the house. It is an aromatic, 100% though so be OK with that.

I feel like their aim with christmas blends is an enjoyable smoke with a room note that will make the relatives ask for more

Seems to be the case with a lot of those old holiday blends, lots of orange and berry and cherry notes.

This is what I liked about the We Three King's release. Light topping, but different from the other holiday releases. Nutty, creamy, slightly cinnamony, allspice.
Not something I could smoke often, but I have a few tins I reach into ever so often.
The ginger in this Christmas release is intriguing to me- not enough to try any, but what a weird topping. But hey, Anne Cap from KBV seemed to be a huge hit and it was a ginger tobacco. Interested to see yalls review on this blend

If it’s anything like 2018, the ginger is backseat to predominantly the orange liqueur.

Since I have both the 2018 and the 2022 versions, I decided to do a bowl-to-bowl comparison. I decided to smoke the 2018 first then the 2022. I used clay pipes for both blends. The 2018 tin from my cellar is on the right and appears to be slightly darker.



Tin Note: In the 2018, the orange stands out a little more and the ginger and perique are very subtle.. Reminds me of the chocolate covered orange slices.

The 2022 as I expected, has a stronger aromatic smell but isn't as strong as most aromatics.
Both needed to dry out for about 15 minutes before loading.

On a prelight draw, the orange and ginger were more pronounced in the 2022.

I really found on slight differences between the two when I smoked them. The orange was more noticeable than the ginger and both seemed to be supporting players to the tobacco itself.

Great to see/hear that they are so comparable! Since I'll probably go through my last half tin from 2018, I likely won't open the 2022 blend till maybe next year so this is good to see.
