Cornell & Diehl heavy perique blends.

Hi guys. I want to know, which blend from the C&D are you recommended which has a high content of perique. And among them, who has the largest content and stronger taste of periques?

I've got my eye on them, bayou morning (ribbon & flakes), bayou night, kajun kake, chenet's kake.

Not specifically a C&D blend, but they make it...

GLP's Haddo's Delight has quite a bit of Perique in it. It also has a touch of Burley.

It ages beautifully.

Poplar Camp is 20% iirc, it is Yorktown with perique and black Cavendish added.

Haddo's , wich is a good blend , have a kind of casing wich "confuse" the real taste of perique. If you want real perique taste i will suggest you kajun kake and chenet better. Bayou night's is something that i really dislike but bayou morning is OK. However , if you ever find a tin of the old escudo or army&navy from Gallaher...even better.

Exclusive. Seems to be a sleeper. 50% Perique according to the description. I haven't smoked enough of it to provide a review. My supply has been mellowing out in a jar for a couple of years at this point.

Exclusive is the highest at 50%. Bayou Morning has 25%. Cajun Cake is another high one. If you email Smokingpipes the question, they’ll tell you.

C&D Anthology has an excellent kick, but not currently available sadly.

If you can get your hands on some straight perique, you can add as much of it to anything you want. I use it to spike those boring old McClelland red Virginias that are taking up so much space in my cellar.

I agree that the C&D Exclusive has the highest Perique content and it packs quite a wallop. I enjoy smoking Virginia with very high Perique content but when I tried Exclusive I could only smoke half a bowl and cried uncle.

Have you tried this? It's available in bulk from Smoking Pipes & is about as Perique heavy as you can get.


Seriously though... Give Bayou Morning or Haunted Bookshop a try.
