Finally, yesterday I received the Missouri Meerschaum corn cobs I ordered online. Here they are;

From left to right:

2 - Diplomat 5th Ave

3 - Morgan XL Natural

4 - Morgan Natural
After work I didn't have enough time, so I managed to smoke Morgan Natural for 15 minutes. And in the evening I smoked Country Gentleman for 40 minutes. My blend was Erinmore Mixture. One thing I need to say: MM corn cobs are amazing. I couldn't believe how cool the smoke was and I was just shocked. I was shocked when I grabbed them for the first time actually. I was waiting them to be really really light and something like a toy, but they proved their name. I have to note that, Morgan Natural smoked hot, not the bowl itself but the smoke was hot. I think it was because of the short stem and tobacco being not dry enough. I changed the stem to a longer one and it smoked well. Country Gentleman was an amazing experience though, the bowl stayed really cool and smoke was very nice. One thing I didn't like about them is the dust and small wooden parts left inside the bowl and shank after manufacturing process, I had to blow them out, clean the shank with the pick of the Czech tool and paper towel. Still, taking the price into consideration I don't mind doing that. Now it is time for me to find very nice blends. Cheers.

My bag of mystery seconds is out for delivery at my local post office as we speak...the suspense is killing me!

"I am more inclined to say you just can't beat them."
For me, as I have stated before, Missouri Meerschaum is a National Treasure. My favorite is the Mark Tawin. I have and recommend the Forever Stems. Have both for filtered and unfiltered. The "filtered" Forever Stems convert pipe to non-filtered. It appears that Log Cabin, the new manufacturer just makes stems for the filtered models now. Walker made them for both.

I love the few corncobs I've smoked. I'm considering a grab bag of seconds myself. Is there a thread where people post their contents? From the reviews on the website, it seems like mostly legends with one "high end" cob is pretty common

Recently I got a grap bag. I found a bent Mark Twain that was misshapen on the outside dimensions, a bowl for a Shire Cobbit with a regular bent stem several Legends and a pony express.

I bought a grab bag about a year ago. I got 6 Legends, a Great Dane, a Patriot, an Eaton, and a Pony Express. There really wasn't anything wrong with them other than some chips on the rim and an uneven stain on the Patriot, they all smoke great.

I'll post my experience later today. I'd like a few naturals.

One other thing I just got a few of the Danish Royal stems with the last grab bag to replace the standard stems. These have the feel of the valcanite stems. The bend isn't sharp so a cleaner can be passed though to the bowl.

I've noticed the warm stream with short, open draw pipes as well. I get the same feeling with the Hardwood Diplomat and one of my billiards that I drilled out. Take extra precaution to sip slowly, the open draw makes it easy to move a lot of air.
The regular plastic stem from Missouri Meerschaum ends approximately in a 4.72x2.35mm hole, that's 11.09 square millimeters, just 1.28 square millimeters short of the 5/32" bore commonly used in artisan pipes (3.96mm diameter or 12.37 square millimeters).

The plastic filtered stem ends in a 6.29x2.35mm square hole in the button, that's 14.78 square millimeters, just shy of some of the most open pipes you'll find on the market.

It might be a good idea to ream out the shank with a sharp, snug fitting drill bit just to clean out the burrs. I assume the drill they use to make the draft hole in the first place is run pretty close to dull before they replace it.

The count is in!
My grab bag came a day early. Looks like 1 Shire (already have one), 1 Great Dane Spool (Don't care for that shape myself), 6 Legends in the different shapes, and my favorite, a Washington. I would have liked a Missouri pride, but the Washington is close enough. As an added bonus, I can now play around with different stem configurations. I think the Shire works better as a short pipe, for instance.

Nice choices all around. I agree with your observation about them seeming to smoke more cooly. I've got my eye on the Bing shape when it's back in stock. The old-style Virginia Planter/Chesapeake also look pretty cool.
