I'm gonna agree with Greg. I don't find any sweetening of the smoke but very cool and dry. Once I have it broken in I will try it without the filter to see just how much of a difference it makes. I would have liked it if it had come with more than one filter but no big deal. It does have a bowl coating. I have only ever had 2 other pipes with bowl coatings and weren't fond of them as they imparted a taste that I didn't care for for the first few smokes. I don't get any flavor from this coating though.

That's a nice prize!
I have a Chinook #426 and I love it! I love the ring grain on this line of Brighams.

That is a good looking pipe, and a lesson to me not to be stuck on certain brands.

Congratulations on the win!

I have the same model as Cavendish, the bent saucer in the Chinook finish. As for the filters, I sometimes use them and sometimes don't depending on what I'm smoking. For aros I use them to soak up some of the excess moisture and produce a dryer smoke with no gurgle at all. I just rinse the filters out under hot water and occasionally soak them in alcohol to clean. I've purchased one pack of 8 filters for something like $3 and I haven't had to purchase any more in 6 months. I have 3 Brighams that are regulars in my rotation.
