Can anyone tell me the logic behind why some pipe tobaccos in the US have that garish, black & white "Warning: Nicotine is an addictive chemical" etc labeling, and others do not? Specifically, recently produced 50g tins rarely seem to have it, while 1.5oz pouches almost always seem to.

The best info I could find from the FDA is that the labeling is voluntary for pipe tobacco after 2018. Ok, but then why does a tin of My Mixture 965 not have it, while a pouch (or can) of Sir Walter Raleigh always have the warning; despite both brands being manufacture by the same company (STG)?

Probably because It's cheaper to set up the labeling infrastructure once with the "ugly" label rather than pay the setup costs for 2 or more labeling runs. It's not a violation for any market to have the label included, but the inverse is not true. Any diversion from a standard process or production variation will incur additional cost.

From my understanding and what is told in Allen Carr’s easy way to stop smoking book, mostly for cigarette smokers, is that is just all marketing propaganda. Cigarette companys told people that is addictive to keep people from thinking they could quit. I know one of the additives in cigarettes is more nicotine, which maybe more addictive, but as a cigar or pipe smoker, I’ve never felt the need to have to have a smoke. I however, do have the urge to sit back, puff a pipe, sip a bourbon, and have good time! ?
