Potchfork's first pic (the stack) appears to be a featherweight. Must of been difficult to carve this shape (note the rather thin walls and bulbous heel). I bet many of the shapes Ed designed drove his carvers batty!

I bought an estate E Wilke pipe the other day and it appears that Joe Cartigano who cut the pipes for Ed Burak / Conisseur formerly worked for Wilke. air Cured Algerian Briar - my mouth is watery already!
The Wilke Pipe Shop was among the most beloved in New York City. The offered a array of classic shapes in a variety of grades, many of them made from air-cured Algerian briar by the famous Joe Cartigano, who later cut pipes for Ed Burak of Connoisseur. The name and remaining inventory were acquired by Elliott Nachwalter, a talented carver in his own right, and he maintains the name for his store in Stowe, Vermont.
