I got the idea from when my wife and I missed our town's "Business and Professionals Associations" meeting once, and they elected us president and assistant president. We had to arrange workers for all the civic and volunteer functions, create a budget, and try to get something done with 100 people all with their own unique and contrarian way of doing things. I'm surprised that I still had hair after that year.
Pipe club is easier. The best presidents really don't do anything at all. I found that when I did try to set up speakers and activities that guys stopped coming. So the best president doesn't do anything at all, and meetings just sort of happen. Although, I really enjoyed having the guy from Lane Tobacco come and have us mix our own blends, and the pipe makers, but for some strange reason guys just want to hang out and swap tobacco and smoke. They don't want any experts, tobacconists, or freakin' pipe makers. Go figure, ha ha. :
