Hello my name is Tony and I have a problem,
4 months after buying my first cob and sample ounce of bulk tobacco I have

13 pipes in the rotation

15 different tobaccos in mason jars

3 pipe stands being used and 2 in the closet waiting for some company
My wife says I look like an addict carrying his kit around when I have my bag of pipes, tobacco and accessories with me. When I leave to head over to one of the several B&M's to hang out she tells me to say hello to my dealer for her too.
This is much worse than cigars ever where.
I also now have a buffer and a box of old grabows and whitehalls I am learning to restore.

So I dont have any jars but i was going to ask someone about that. I only have 1 oz baggies all over the place. Do you all keep those leather pouches for your tobacco? I am thinking of getting one but i have no idea what to buy. I guess what i am saying is i want to have a "Go Pack" but with a pipe, lighter and tobacco.

I would recommend inexpensive large mouth Ball mason jars but buy the white caps to go with them. I label them on top with a piece of tape and the name and date. They do a much better job of storing your tobacco.
Welcome to the madness! I am a newbie myself and I already have 12 pipes and spent more than I can afford! But it's a great pastime. :puffy:

That's the nature of this hobby. We're all affected in this way. It's almost like a sickness, but it makes you feel good. :puffy: Welcome!

Almost 2 years in and I get more mysterious smelly packages than a drug dealer, I have more pipes than rack and I've started a cult.

k9shag, just tell your wife this keeps you out of trouble and it's saving money over country club membership, green fees, skiing equipment and lift passes, buying a sports car, season tickets at [fill in your area pro sports team here] and Lord knows, cigars are a MUCH more expensive hobby than pipes!

Oh Oh... I did not give up golf, motorcycles or cigars when I took up pipes. Nobody told me.. but since winter is on the way the golf and motorcycle will take a back burner (no pun) to the pipes and cigars.

Another good English blend is villiger 1888 early day. Very smooth smoke. Don't feel bad. I'm an addict and love it. Better than crack. Lol.

Yep im in the same boat... 2 weeks ago I came across an old box in are storage shed with a bunch of old pipes in it. Found acouple of them that had never been used at all. (That was all she wrote)Now I find myself glued to this sight or when ever I can, I love this sight I can spend hours just doing research on what ever im wondering about. Went out and purchesed 4 different kinds of tobacco (Aromatics for now), smoking them usely at night. Doing pipe research on the ones I have ( cheap drug store Dr. Garbos from the 40's and one nice meerchaum with a P on it, dont know). Been having visons of creating a stock pile due to the talk of banning internet purchesses ( I feel like a DOOMS DAY PREPPER all the sudden).

Easydraw: If your Grabow is from the 40s, it's probably a superior pipe to the ones they turn out today. Same with the old Petes. Peterson Meerschaums are supposed to be high quality. I just won one on ebay so I'll see for myself, soon.

Is it possible that I can be a Pipe addict after only 1 week?
Entirely possible. :puffy: There's a lot to like.
I've been at it a year or so now, but just got my first meerschaum recently. They make for a great smoke, good choice.

Actually the meerschaum is what made me start this thread. I'm not a month into this yet and I have 2. I'm not experienced yet to know if they actually smoke differently or not. I do know that my favorite pipe is the my long stem Peterson. I don't know why yet though.
