Since Japan Tobacco International took over Condor tobaccos, they have moved production from Ireland to Poland.

I have read comments saying the tobacco took a turn for the worse since that move. I'm assuming there could have been some issues with the recipe, or some quality control issues.

Now that time has passed since the move, what are the assessments? Is Condor still a fail or did things start coming back to normal?
(As a side note, I have read somewhere, but can't remember where or if this true, Mac Baren has moved part of its production there as well).

I wish I could offer some historical perspective, but I only tried Condor for the first time last month while traveling in Scotland. That was Condor Long Cut that I bought in August. I thought it was good, but maybe the old stuff was better.

Some of the folks that are regular Irish Condor lovers (you know who they are by their avatar/name) have said that the new stuff from Poland is terrible (in comparison to the Irish). My brother brought me back some from London back in '16 and it was wonderful stuff (Irish). Haven't tried the new, but 'tis a shame that they moved it and apparently changed the recipe.

Yeah, I read condorlover's thread on the matter as I mentioned in my OP (had not specifically named him) and my intent was to see if the new version had improved since its bad start or if the downgrade was more like a permanent thing.

I have been extremely hesitant to order some but did order a pouch of the Long Cut and Ready Rubbed. Having tried both a few years back I should be able to recognize any major differences, or not.

Fingers crossed, I guess.

Good luck and post your thoughts after you smoke it...obviously not before you smoke it...wouldn't do much good.

I had a pouch of Condor RR in the last few months and it was fine, I never really noticed. These threads sometimes remind me of Toking Tommy on Youtube talking about his grandfather; he made a remark at one point like "Yeah, you can't go wrong with St. Bruno. It used to be better though; it really changed in the '60s."

I'm currently looking into the Mac Baren thing. I just can't remember where I have read it. I don't know if it's even true. So take it as a rumor/hearsay, nothing more. :)
